All Japanese All The Time
I’ve recently been wanting to get back in to studying Japanese. Last night I posted a facebook status in Japanese and I got a positive response from a couple of my Japanese friends, which has given me a huge confidence boost. (Maybe I haven’t forgotten as much Japanese as I thought I did??)
I’ve been revisiting my learning materials and websites and starting reading through AJATT again. (All Japanese All The Time) There are some controversial opinions on Khatz (the person who runs this site) and his methods but for the most part I agree with a lot of what he says. I don’t agree with everything in his site though, and neither should you. At least not without experimenting a little bit. Each person learns languages a little bit differently, but the information on AJATT is overall helpful. I especially enjoy his inspirational posts about language learning. He makes it all seem so easy and so do able. The way he explains things makes you feel like learning Japanese is something you can accomplish easily.
While that’s not exactly the case, his site is extremely motivating. I recommend going to the table of contents and skimming through AJATT. Click on articles that seem interesting and read about all the different books and methods he recommends. Try them out and see if they work for you. Personally, I tweaked Khatz’s advice to suit my own needs. AJATT introduced me to theories, methods, books, programs and concepts I probably would never discover on my own. If you’re interested in learning Japanese but aren’t sure if its possible for you, definitely check this site out.
